drainage

Drainage can be for various purposes, land drainage, waste drainage and storm drainage. They all work on the same principle, first a trench is dug to line and level to a suitable disposal point. Next a layer of Shingle is laid in the bottom of the trench and drainage pipes are bedded to line. Finally a layer of Shingle is spread over the pipes prior to backfill and compaction of arisings from the trench. Various sizes of Shingle are used depending on the size of the pipes.
Land drains may require a textile membrane lining to reduce soft fines washing into the pipes.
