Types of Decorative Aggregates & Gravel Decorative aggregates such as shingles, gravel and chippings can add that finishing touch to many outdoor projects. Perfect for driveways, paths, flower beds and a variety of other landscaping purposes, the selection of decorative aggregates on the market is pleasantly vast and you'll even get a range of different colours to choose from. In fact, all the choice can sometimes make it very hard to decide. So, to help make your decision an easy and clear one, we've put together a guide on all sorts of decorative aggregates, from colourful quartz to modest gravel chippings. Decorative Shingles Decorative shingles have both aesthetic and practical uses; they look great when used on driveways and paths, but also work well if you're using them for land drainage and pipe bedding. Shingles also function as mulch and thus are an excellent and good looking solution for flower beds. A rising trend is the surfacing of large areas in the garden. It looks great and provides a low maintenance solution if your garden is hard to handle. Our decorative shingles are available in a mixture of natural beiges and earthy colours, so they'll fit in anywhere, while still adding that little something extra to the landscape. When it comes to size we recommend 20mm shingle for hard landscaping, 10mm shingle for pipe bedding, 40mm shingle for land drainage and 6mm pea shingle for reed beds and pipe bedding. View our article on Pea Shingles for more information. Quartz Quartz is a decorative stone used predominantly for dressing driveways, footpaths and borders. Available in a range of forms, including crushed, Smith Bletchington offer Premier Quartz, Red Quartz and Bubbenhall Quartz. We've put some more information together for each of these products below.
